Asylum

We can help you, no matter where you are

Political Asylum

Asylum is a relief available to people who have fled their countries due to persecution and/or have a fear of returning to their countries.

Asylum can be a defense if you are already in removal proceedings or can be filed affirmatively (outside of court proceedings) with USCIS. Everyone’s experience and story is unique.  To see if you qualify for asylum make an appointment to tell us about you and the journey that led you to the United States.  Keep in mind only certain types of persecution qualify for protection under the asylum laws, so it is important have your claim evaluated.

The Asylum Process

Political Asylum

Every step of the way, we will be at your side to guide you through the Asylum process

The first step of your asylum application is preparing your I-589 application and Declaration.  This is a very important step because your application and declaration tell your story. Months or years later the Immigration Judge or Asylum officer will compare your application to your court/interview testimony to make sure you are telling the truth.  Additionally, the DHS attorney in the court proceedings will question you regarding your application.  Our team will assist you in completing you application.

In addition to completing the application you must provide corroborating evidence to prove your case.  Under the asylum laws you must prove your identity by providing a copy of passport, birth certificate and/or national ID card.

As part of our team approach, we will discuss with you examples of types of evidence that can help you prove your case.  Then we will set a deadline to provide us with the evidence so it can be filed with the immigration.

Before your trial or interview we will then meet with you to review your application and evidence and role play the trial experience so that you are as prepared as possible for your hearing.

Every step of the way, we will be at your side to guide you through the Asylum process.
